UPPER BROOK HILL, WOODSTOCK
Not the simplest of planning applications by any means. Semi-subterranean, on the edge of a conservation area and in a busy medieval market town renowned for being the home of Blenheim Palace.
Today's planning committee meeting came as a bit of a surprise, we expected at least some resistance, especially considering the number of local objections submitted on line. Parking mainly, as in this busy tourist town it is an ongoing issue.
In the end common sense prevailed, and the entire planning committee voted in support of the application after a brief but positive debate. An extract from the officers' report follows:
"... which officers consider is of a significantly high quality and would contribute positively to the character and appearance of the street scene and Conservation Area setting..."
